Strategic Partnership Coordinator Special Agent Byron Franz will be presenting on the topic of Corporate and Cyber Espionage. He is part of the FBI Milwaukee Division’s Strategic Partnership Program which provides businesses and academia the tools to recognize, identify, and report insider threats, theft of trade secrets, and economic espionage.  

Join us as Byron Franz covers computer intrusion threats and mitigations to corporate and other organizations, intellectual property (IP) threats to U.S. travelers abroad, and the associated threat of compromise to portable electronic devices carrying IP. All of these things involved Economic Espionage or the Theft of Trade Secrets.

BIO: Byron Franz is a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and has worked national security investigations for over fifteen years. Prior to coming to the FBI's Milwaukee office, he spent ten years in Indianapolis, where he was a member of the FBI Special Weapons & Tactics (SWAT) Team and lead the investigation of an Indiana man who was convicted of acting as an agent of the former Iraqi Intelligence Service under the regime of Saddam Hussein. Special Agent Franz currently serves as the Strategic Partnership Coordinator for the FBI's Milwaukee Division, where his job is to form partnerships with corporations and academia to better protect intellectual property and trade secrets. Special Agent Franz has a B.A. in International Relations and Russian from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) and a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
