“Doing two things at once is doing neither.”
Publilius Syrus
“Multitasking is merely the opportunity to screw up more than one thing at a time.”
Steve Uzzell

Many people in the past ten to fifteen years have praised and/or aspired to the so-called skill of multitasking...yet the first quote above was written over 2,000 years ago, and the second quote is an indictment of this flawed view of the idea of pursuing more than one task at a time. It's high time we saw multitasking for what it truly is--a myth. February's presenter, Anna Javellana from Addicted to Busy will take us through debunking it.

The Multitasking Myth: Why Focusing on One Task is the Key to Success

Are you a busy facility manager looking to maximize your productivity and achieve greater success? We're often told we must multitask to be a successful facility manager. However, research shows that multitasking is actually ineffective. Join us as we dive into the powerful benefits of focusing on one task at a time. In this session, we'll uncover the myths surrounding multitasking and discover why one-task focus is the key to success. You will learn powerful techniques to enhance your ability to concentrate on a single task and discover how to manage your energy effectively, enabling you to get more done in less time. Finally, we'll cover the importance of setting clear boundaries within your team to create a cohesive, focus-driven environment.

Anna Javellana, CPM®, REM® is an experienced property manager in the Minneapolis area. After reaching the point of burnout in her career, she sought out experienced mentors and developed an understanding that working harder and longer was not the answer. As a result of this 'a-ha' moment, she learned to shift her workstyle and achieve greater productivity. With this experience behind her, she founded Addicted to Busy and began to share her hard-learned lessons with others, including members of IFMA, BOMA, NARPM and IREM chapters around the country. She continues to work in property management to maintain her knowledge of the industry while she shares the skills she has developed with professionals in the field.

This meeting will be held virtually via Zoom secure meeting room. You will receive a link once your registration is complete.
